Calendar SA Open National Championships

Date: 17 October 2015
Venue: Kempton Park, South Africa
Organization: South African Ju-Jitsu Council
Rules: United Nations of Ju-Jitsu

The SAJJC will be hosting the SA Open National Championships on Saturday 17th October 2015 at the Kempton Park Indoor Sports Centre. As there has been limited exposure to Ju-Jitsu competition this year, it was decided to host an open championship to allow mass participation for your students this year. The championship invitation and entry forms will be sent out by Friday 11th September 2015.

We have been approached by the Ju-Jitsu African Union (JJAU) to host the 4th African Ju-Jitsu Senior Championships. The reason for the request and short notice is that the Democratic Republic of Congo, pulled out of the hosting of this event which was to take place in September 2015. There are 11 African countries (including South Africa) that are members of the JJAU. The competition rules are different to ours and limited participation is the rule when it comes to national and international championships. We agreed to the hosting of this event in conjuction with the already planned SAJJC Open Championships which were already scheduled and planned for the 17th October.

A Presidents and Development team will be selected to represent South Africa. The AJJU is the African regional representative of the Ju-Jitsu International Federation (JJIF). The JJIF has over 150 counties affiliated and is a member of "The International World Games Association" and "Sport Accord". The web site is: www.jjif.info and JJAU web site: www.jjafu.org
